The weight thresholds are fixed. Cash value depends on today's local gold and silver prices—use the calculator to convert.
The Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must possess for a full lunar year before Zakat becomes obligatory. The weight thresholds are classical and stable (7.5 tola gold / 52.5 tola silver). What changes daily is the money equivalent once you apply local metal prices.

Gold vs. Silver Nisab
During the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the value of the gold Nisab (20 dinars) and the silver Nisab (200 dirhams) were relatively equal in purchasing power. Today, however, silver is significantly cheaper than gold.
Because the silver Nisab results in a much lower monetary threshold, the vast majority of contemporary Islamic scholars recommend applying the silver Nisab to cash, business assets, and mixed wealth. This scholarly consensus ensures that more wealth is distributed to the poor and needy.
When do I calculate my Nisab?
You only need to calculate the Nisab on your Zakat Anniversary (the Islamic lunar date when your wealth first crossed the Nisab threshold). You do not need to track daily price swings throughout the year. If your total Zakatable wealth on your anniversary day is equal to or greater than the Nisab cash value of that specific day, Zakat is due.
